Dear uMhlanga Sands Owner
Welcome to our Umhlanga Sands Resort newsletter, the first in a series of updates we’ll be sending timeshare owners to keep you posted on the action going on at your home away from home.
Behind the scenes, innovation is the name of the game of Umhlanga Sands, and this issue highlights several of the efforts we’re making in 2019 to make sure your holiday property and experience with us stays up to speed with the finest of modern world-class standards.
These efforts, as you’ll see, tie up with each other and form an interconnected pattern. Our lead story kicks off with a report on where our current and upcoming work begins: the major soft refurbishment we completed of our timeshare units ahead of the Christmas season last year. This has given the resort fresh energy and paved the way for many a further enhancement at Umhlanga Sands.
As our other articles show, these include not only renovations to the corridors and lift lobbies – areas critical to traffic flow and an inviting atmosphere – but the introduction of fibre-optic connectivity to timeshare units and a dramatic increase in the number of news, sports and entertainment channels you can feast on with our new large-screen internet-powered digital TVs.
We’re keeping up the momentum at Umhlanga Sands Resort, working hard so you can take it easy. To ensure this momentum isn’t interrupted and that the taps don’t run dry, as was nearly the case in Cape Town last year, we recently sank a borehole on the property, complete with a purification plant.
Our article on this reports that the borehole’s yield has increased substantially, putting us on track for significant cost savings and, more fundamentally, making us better able to fend for ourselves and keep operations running in the event of future challenges.
In a similar vein, load-shedding has reared its head again throughout the country. Thanks, however, to the foresight of our board of directors made up of timeshare owners, we have a powerful generator on-site to provide an uninterrupted supply of electricity to the resort. The lights don’t go off here, so rest assured that the great holiday you’re looking forward to is safe with us.
On a personal note of farewell, I am going on retirement as of the end of March, and hand over the reins with the utmost confidence to your new incoming General Manager, Antony Larsen, who is arriving with an illustrious background in hospitality. To say that Umhlanga Sands has been close to my heart for the past 12 years is the understatement of the century. It’s been my absolute pride and joy, and I hope I have served this extraordinary resort with the energy, zeal and capability it deserves.
Thank you for all your wonderful support over the years. Long may that sun shine at Umhlanga Sands.
With the warmest of wishes,
